Denning-Santee Construction was founded in 1984 by Bob Santee
and Danna Denning. This Mother and Son duo paired Bob's
carpentor skills with Danna's eye for development and investment.
Together they became one of Lawrence's best known luxury home
building companies by focusing on the demand for a quality product.

Custom homes has been the mainstay for Denning-Santee. The
first large scale development came in the late 80's with the arrival
of Parkside phase I. Completed in 1987 it featured 32 single
family homes on generous tree lined lots.

Shortly thereafter planning for Cherry Hill at Alvamar began. This
neighborhood uped the ante by increasing lot and home size over
previous projects.  By 1997 all lots had been built and
Denning-Santee was seeking its next challenge.

In the mid 90's Denning-Santee branched out into light-commercial
properties when presented with an opportunity to help expand
Raintree Montessori school. This being a school attended by Santee children
and cousins made this an easy place to begin venturing into the
commercial realm.  Raintree Building II was soon completed.

At this time Phase II of the Parkside project was completed. Remaining
were 6 tree lined lots that featured walk out basements.

After a fire destroyed Raintree's main building Denning-Santee
was hired to help bring Raintree Building I back to life. Pictures
of this beautiful school can be found in our photo gallery.

As the new millinium began Denning-Santee returned to custom
homes as it completed a four home segment in the Reserve at Alvamar.

In 2005 Denning-Santee began work on the Rainbolt office building. This
office building includes offices for 6 dentists and one orthodontist that
were tailored by the clients to fit their professional needs as they leased the
space.

After successful completion of the Rainbolt office Denning-Santee moved
on to two more commercial projects, Eileen's Colossal Cookie store and
Salon Six hair studio. Both projects completed in 2008 and can be visited
at 6th and Wakarusa on the Southwest and Southeast corners respectively.

Recently, Denning-Santee has completed the final work on Coach Bill Self's
custom home in West Lawrence.

Sadly in Spring 2009 Denning-Santee and family lost Danna after a long
fight with Cancer. Her legacy lives on with us, Bob is now joined by
his two sons, Chase and Trent.
